Following are a few of the charity events we participate in: Curves Food Drive For the past nine years, Curves International has sponsored a nationwide Curves Food Drive to collect food for local charities. Curves clubs throughout the nation participate in this major event. In March 2007, Kansas City Curves clubs collected over 57,000 pounds of food, and nationwide, Curves clubs collected more than 12 million pounds of food for local charities. Breast Cancer Research and Awareness Kansas City Curves clubs are actively involved in supporting breast cancer research and awareness. In August every year, Kansas City Curves clubs will donate money and their members will participate in the local “Race for the Cure” conducted by the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and each year the Kansas City Curves clubs promote breast cancer awareness by offering women the opportunity to join Curves at a reduced initial fee with proof of a recent mammogram or a $25 contribution to American Cancer Society. Holiday Giving Each year, Kansas City Curves clubs adopt many needy families for Christmas giving. Donations and gifts for the families are collected by the clubs from their members. Over the past five years, numerous families in the Kansas City metropolitan area have received much appreciated Christmas gifts from members of local Curves clubs.
